An MVP is the smallest version that lets you test your core assumption. An 8-week MVP costs £3-5k. A full product costs £50-200k. Validate first.
8-Week Build Timeline
8-week MVP schedule
| Week | Phase | Deliverables |
|---|---|---|
| 1-2 | Design | Wireframes, high-fidelity screens, component library |
| 3-4 | Core Build | Auth, database, core user flow |
| 5-6 | Feature Build | Secondary features, push notifications |
| 7 | Testing | QA, bug fixes, performance optimisation |
| 8 | Launch | App Store submission, beta release, monitoring |
Scoping the MVP
- Define the single core user action your app enables (one sentence)
- List every feature you think the app needs
- For each feature: "Can the core value be delivered without this?"
- Everything answered "yes" goes in version 2+
- Eliminate 70-80% of features in this exercise
🎯
Success Metric
Define your success metric before you build, not after. "X% of users complete the core action within their first session" is a metric. "Users like the app" is not.
